Little British Battler Programme

LBB logoTechMarketView Championing SMEs

At TechMarketView we’re proud of the fact that we spend as much time talking to small UK software and IT services (SITS) firms as we do to the giants of the industry. We call these SMEs Little British Battlers and the LBB logo has since become a beacon for innovative SMEs that are punching above their weight.

Little British Battler Days

In 2012 we ran our inaugural Little British Battler Day, inviting applications from small, privately held UK-headquartered tech firms who were looking for some candid, expert feedback on their company and propositions and, of course, some ‘airtime’ in TechMarketView’s research – for free!

We were overwhelmed by the response and choosing just 12 to come and meet us from some 200 applications was no easy task. But such was the success of the first LBB event that we held another LBB Day early in 2013 at which we got to know another dozen companies. The programme is now well established with two LBB events held each year.

The SMEs that are chosen to participate in our LBB days get a chance to present their company to the TechMarketView analyst team, discuss their strategy and receive constructive feedback. Each LBB also gets a write-up in UKHotViews and features in a research report available to eligible TechMarketView subscription clients.

What do LBBs gain?

Previous participants tell us that being part of the LBB Programme has raised their profile and that the PR exposure has been invaluable. LBBs also highlight the value they get from the LBB process itself, including the feedback provided by the TMV analyst team. See below for just a few quotes from previous Little British Battlers.

"The increasing appetite of large organisations to work with innovative, specialist, focused, agile companies means that the SITS market is a very exciting place for UK SMEs. The LBB programme helps align the strategies and offerings of participants with the challenges and opportunities in the market, supporting those who are punching above their weight and aspiring to become Great British Winners!"

“Being an LBB applicant put us on the 'map' with several large firms who ordinarily would not have known about us. This has allowed us to form business partnerships that today are driving business for the company.”

Being part of the LBB programme stands out as one of the most positive experiences of our CentraStage journey so far. Outside of meeting the TMV team our involvement in the inaugural LBB programme has given our profile in the market an immeasurable boost. More importantly, it was the genesis of a lasting and very positive relationship with the team at TechmarketView.

"LBB participation for a small and focused company like Deep-Secure has been really very positive. TechMarketView are taking time and interest in the UK engine room of innovation, agility and entrepreneurial spirit to learn more about those investing and pressing hard for growth. The profile this has offered is exceeded by access to areas of influence, critical to enabling us to engage in meaningful conversations with the customer communities we serve. The facilitated direct discussion with the Cabinet Office Minister and Government Digital Service CTO offered unprecedented insight that really does help us form strategy around addressing the wider public sector elements to our business."
