I ended my March rant about the UK Government's smart meter rollout programme (see Smart Meter Madness (8): 10m down, 40m to go) with the following words:
"Very simply, the costs are piling up, the benefits are essentially non-existent – both for consumers and the supply industry – and meanwhile the timeframe is extending well into the next decade."
The report issued just this month from the parliamentary British Infrastructure Group (aka BIG, see Shock, horror! Smart meter rollout not so smart) confirms my worst fears – and more!
