*NEW RESEARCH* Japanese BPO firm OSI buys Liberata (update)

lThe takeover of Liberata UK, the long-time public sector business process services (BPS) playerby Japanese BPO provider Outsourcing Inc (OSI), came as something of a surprise (see Japanese BPO firm buys Liberata for £43m). We had been anticipating a deal, but expected one of the ‘usual suspect’ BPS providers.

The takeover means we now have, for the first time, a Japanese-owned BPO company competing in the UK public sector BPS market.

lOSI will be a new name to many in the UK SITS market, and very much an 'unusual suspect' new parent for Liberata. So who is OSI, and, why are they making this entrée in to the UK BPS market? Also, what does this mean for Liberata and their customers as part of this new group?
