*New Research* UK Government: Digital leadership changes

Kevin Cunnington photoThe wires are hot with speculation over what the future holds for the Government Digital Service (GDS) after it was announced, yesterday, that Stephen Foreshew-Cain stepped down from his role as Executive Director, GDS, after only a year in position. In his place, Kevin Cunningham, formerly Director General of Business Transformation at DWP, steps into the position of Director General, GDS.

This is the first time GDS has been led by a Director General, which in the UK Civil Service is usually a Senior Civil Servant reporting directly to the Permanent Secretary of the department (in this case of the Cabinet Office).

In the latest UKHotViewsExtra from the PublicSectorViews team, Georgina O'Toole considers recent changes within the Cabinet Office and GDS and what they mean for the future of digital transformatin within Whitehall and the wider public sector.
